Privacy notice
This draft explains how Didaglot holds information about pupils. It is written for the school's data protection officer to check before the app is used with real pupil data. It is not the final notice.
What Didaglot is
Didaglot is a vocabulary-learning app used by a UK secondary school. Pupils are aged 13 and over. Teachers set the words, tests and homework. Pupils practise those words in short sessions.
What is held about a pupil
When a teacher adds a pupil, Didaglot keeps:
- full name
- preferred name
- username
- school number
- year group
- class group
- house
- gender
- an email address created by the app for the account (pupils sign in with their username, not this address)
- the first password, which their teacher can see so it can be handed out
- their learning record: how words are moving through spaced repetition, what they have reviewed, points (XP), streaks, and test answers and marks
What is not held
- no photographs
- no payment details
- no pupil data of any kind is sent to an AI service — not names, not marks, not anything else about a pupil. Didaglot does not currently use an AI service
Who can see it
Pupil information in Didaglot can be seen by:
- the pupil themselves
- their teachers
- school admins
Where it is stored
Pupil information is stored with Supabase, in the European Union (Ireland).
Other companies involved
Two other companies help the app run:
- Supabase — holds the database and the audio files
- ElevenLabs — reads vocabulary words aloud. It only ever receives the words themselves, never a pupil's name, marks, or anything else about them
Why it is held
Information is held for teaching and learning only. It is never sold. It is never used for advertising.
